Who We Are (Formerly: The Environmental Design Collaborative)   Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, Environ Design Collaborative is about high standards of design excellence and construction quality through the application of ecologically responsive design. Environ Design Collaborative is also the Architecture practice of Thomas A. Fisher, AIA.   We are also a founding member company of McGuffey Hill LLC. ( www.McGuffeyHill.com ) With Architects Richard Price, AIA (also at our Charlottesville, VA office) and Frank Folsom Smith, FAIA in Sarasota, FL, McGuffey Hill is a Design/Development company with exciting projects in Florida and Virginia.   Educated in New England, Tom Fisher graduated from the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Ecology. It was here in the early 70's that he assisted in the design and construction of one of Maine's first solar homes. After several years of broad construction experience and professional training he received a Master of Arts degree in Architecture, the American Institute of Architects' Certificate of Merit Award, and a Certificate in Computer Programming. Following employment with award winning architectural firms he began his own practice in 1991 in Hawaii and is located now in Charlottesville, Virginia. Experienced in a broad range of building types including residential, retail, commercial and light industrial, Tom is a registered Architect in Virginia, North Carolina and Hawaii, a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).   For more information on our Richard Price , Frank Folsom Smith and our staff, please visit the McGuffey Hill web site.
