Dagmar Esch, Associate AIA
Dagmar Esch was born and raised in Germany, where she received her Masters degree in Architecture from the Technical University in Aachen in 2001. During her studies she worked as a teaching and research assistant for the Department of Building History. Participation in several research projects took her on extensive travels through France and Italy. She has also worked in Ladakh, India researching traditional construction techniques and developing ways to preserve the fabric of ancient Buddhist settlements.
Ms. Esch has worked for a variety of Architectural Firms in Germany and the United States, ranging from small residential practices with focus on Green Building to a 70 person Engineering and Architecture firm in Aachen, Germany, where she worked closely with the principals on the design of several large scale commercial projects.
Presently Ms. Esch lives and works in Falls Church, Virginia, as an Architectural Designer. She is an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects and engaged in volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity in Washington DC.
Her professional focus is on environmentally sensitive design, with experience in Green Building design and research both in Germany and the United States. Her main interest lies in the implementation of green building principles in the context of a contemporary approach to design.
